After your early morning breakfast, you will be driven to the Bwindi Impenatrable Forest National Park gate (Rushaga, Nkuringo or Mgahinga) where you’ll be briefed on the Gorilla trek by the Uganda Wildlife Authorities. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest was declared a World Heritage site in 1994 because of its incredible biodiversity. This forest protects about half of the remaining 1050 Mountain Gorillas.
Once a trekking group encounters one of the gorilla families, only one hour is granted in the presence of the great apes before trekkers must leave, however reluctantly.
Be aware that the trek can be strenuous and may reach altitudes of almost 2,000 metres above sea level. Depending on weather conditions, some of the paths can be slippery and these paths themselves can change depending on the location of the gorillas. Therefore, it is extremely hard to predict how long you will need to walk for, but a particularly good level of fitness is recommended for this trek. You can usually get remarkably close to the mountain gorillas, and seeing their movements is like seeing a mirror image of yourself.
From a safe distance, watch them eat, sleep, groom, and play – the giant silverback surveying and guarding the scene. Enjoy a packed lunch in the wilderness.
Depending on the time you finish tracking the Gorillas, you can enjoy other short Optional Activities as listed above.

Soon after breakfast you will set out to Lake Bunyonyi between Kabale and Kisoro Districts. Lake Bunyonyi (‘place of many little birds’) is undoubtedly the loveliest lake in Uganda. Its contorted shore encircles 29 islands, surrounded by steep terraced hillsides reminiscent of parts of Nepal. A magical place, especially with a morning mist rising off the placid waters, it has supplanted the Ssese Islands as the place for travellers to chill out on their way through Uganda and has a selection of gorgeously remote and bucolic places to stay on distant islands, where you’ve only the birds for company. Best of all – unlike many lakes in East Africa – Bunyoni is bilharzia, croc, and hippo free, and so its crystal-clear waters are all yours to swim in. Bliss. The beautiful lake also formed park of scenes of “Wakanda” in the Academy award winner movie Black Panther starred by the Late Chadwick Boseman Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o among others.
The afternoon is all yours to explore the lake.

Recently in 2015 Uganda Wildlife Authority introduced 15 giraffes from Murchison Falls National Park which are now up to 25 members.

Horse safaris are an awesome way to see the wildlife around Mihingo Lodge. Without the noise of an engine, you can hear so much more, and you really feel part of nature.
Watching animals from a horse is so peaceful and a totally different experience from being on a game drive; zebras come towards you to check out the strange relative without stripes. Even the elands that are usually very shy, look curiously at the horses without running away, but keep their distance.

You will have early morning breakfast after which you will head for a bush walk.
Lake Mburo N.P. is one of two parks in Uganda where bush walks with an experienced ranger are permitted. This opportunity should not be missed. From footprints and animal droppings the ranger will be able to tell you which animal has left it and how long ago. It is exciting to approach wildlife at such close range
After your bush walk in the savannah early morning you will head to your lodge and have lunch after which you will depart for Entebbe International Airport.
Please make sure your flight is after 8pm
Meal Plan: Breakfast
If you choose to stay longer, accommodation will be a private arrangement.
Please Note
In case the mentioned lodges are not available during the requested period, we will do our best to book a lodge in the same class for you (of course we will only do this after consulting you). It is not possible to ‘reserve’ gorilla and chimpanzee permits so we will buy them only after your booking and down payment. Permits also depend on availability.
Disclaimer
Since Gorillas are wild animals Gorilla trekking doesn’t 100% guarantee you will see the gorillas although chances of seeing them are about 98%
