Exploring Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary with Jumanji Africa Safaris allows you to experience a variety of different safari activities to make your trip even more memorable. Below are the various activities that you can take part in when you visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
The sanctuary’s main attraction is the growing population of now 32 Southern White Rhinos which can be tracked on foot by day or overnight in company of an experienced ranger. The sanctuary is home to 20 other species of mammals which include vervet monkeys, bushbuck, warthog and others.
It is home to a checklist of more than 300 bird species which include the shoebill, which can be tracked by canoe or on foot in Lugogo swamp.
One of the most exciting wildlife viewing experiences in Uganda is the tracking of Southern White Rhinos on foot. Rhinos are naturally solitary animals, but the youngsters tend to stick close to their mother until they are fully grown. This rhino population is very much habituated since they are protected by armed rangers 24/7. This makes them approachable to within 30 meters, but it is important to note that wild animals are often unpredictable so it’s important to follow instructions from the ranger.
Another exciting experience at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is to head out early morning hours on a canoe in Lugogo swamp is search of the resident prehistoric shoebill. This experience enjoys a very high success rate, but you will not get as close as you might in the delta at Murchison falls.
