What to do in the Samburu

Exploring Samburu with Jumanji Africa Safaris allows you to experience a variety of different safari activities to make your trip even more memorable. Below are the various activities that you can take part in when you visit Samburu.

Game Drives

Enjoy early morning game drives in our open game safari cruisers. Naturally we keep a good distance at least 20m away from the wildlife so not to agitate them viewing us as a potential threat.

Visit the Samburu People

Still semi-nomadic and very strongly connected to their traditions and culture, the Samburu are one of the most famous and interesting tribes in Kenya. Closely related to the Maasai and speakers of a version of the Maa language (Maasai and Samburu understand each other perfectly well, even if they smile about each other’s accents and tuns pf phrases), they are believed to have reached Kenya between four and five centuries ago with other Nilotic groups like the Karamojong settled in North Eastern Uganda – walking South from the Horn of Africa.

Sign up for the Warriors Academy

This a special interactive wildlife safari with a strong educational flavor, designed for families and small groups. It is a fun learning experience that allows you to explore not only the wildlife, but also the authentic lifestyles of two (the Maasai and Samburu) out of the three of Africa’s last remaining and culturally fascinating tribes – the Maasai, Samburu and the Karamojong. Under the tutelage of their ‘Moran,’ or warriors, our guests get to know, enjoy, and understand these unique people and see the Kenya bush from a completely different and unique perspective – through the eyes of the people who have called this wilderness their home for centuries.
